How it works

The corn is cooked and softened by steam heat treatment, and the heat and pressure of steam are used to gelatinize the starch in the corn, breaking the hydrogen bonds of the starch. Then, through mechanical action, the rollers of the corn flaking steam extruder process the corn into flakes of specific thickness and bulk density.

Processing technology of corn flake steam extruder

The raw materials are first cleaned of impurities and then soaked to allow water to penetrate into the corn. They are then sent into a vertical stainless steel steamer and heated with 110℃-140℃ steam for 40-60 minutes. They are then rolled with preheated rollers and finally dried and cooled.

The degree of gelatinization is usually adjustable between 65% and 75%, the bulk density is 380-400g/L, and the moisture content of the finished product is adjustable between 13% and 16%.
